Located under the shadow of Sutro Tower, Glen Park Elementary School third grade students start the school year painting the tower. “The reason I do that is because I like to give the kids a sense of feeling that they’re home. When you see Sutro Tower, you always know that you’re home,” said Sheila Tenney, who has been a teacher at the school since 2015.
She has seen hundreds of different artistic interpretations of the Tower from her students, with no two works ever looking the same. “I’m amazed at how imaginative they can be with their paintings,” said Tenney. “They all look at it from different perspectives or different angles. It’s a true testament to their creativity.”
